CYT Portland Vancouver is a small part of a national organization, Christian Youth Theater. Each summer the national organization hosts an annual gathering of CYT affiliates from across the country. Nearly 500 CYT students, staff and parents from all over the US gather to celebrate what it means to be part of CYT. We play, learn, perform and have a blast!

The EXPO is an annual gathering for CYT students and leadership held on June 17-June 20, 2018. CYT Students (ages 12-18), CYT Leadership, and Spectators (for specific events only) are all invited to attend! The goal of EXPO is to equip, play, and connect with affiliates from across the country! Here you will find all the information you need for this year’s EXPO experience. Read it carefully as you prepare for your trip to San Diego! Please note, we will continue to add information on speakers, workshops, schedule, etc
IMPORTANT NOTE: WE ARE HANDLING REGISTRATION DIFFERENTLY THAN LAST YEAR. STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ARE BELOW. YOU WILL BE REGISTERING/PAYING FOR DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE TRIP IN DIFFERENT WAYS. READ BELOW CAREFULLY.
STEP 1: EXPO REGISTRATION
*** LEADERSHIP ***
CYT Adult Leadership includes Artistic Directors, Managing Directors, Area Coordinators, Board Members, Artistic Teams, Teachers, HYPE Advisors, Improvathon Coaches, and any other critical staff.
ADs, MDs, ACs, BOARD MEMBERS, and OTHER CYT STAFF
Your days will be filled with workshops, guest speakers, and more! We are looking forward to gathering as a group, learning from one another, and celebrating what is going on around the country.
ARTISTIC TEAMS & CYT TEACHERS
Artistic Team Members and CYT Teachers are invited to come and participate in training! Come connect with fellow educators from across the country. Share your creative ideas and learn new ones to take back to your local students. Don’t miss out on this exciting element of CYT’s EXPO!

*** STUDENTS ***
All CYT students, ages 12 - 18, are invited to come to EXPO. There are tracks specifically for students involved in HYPE, competing in the Improvathon, and for students who are not participating in either. Students who are not involved in HYPE or Improvathon will participate in Master Classes and other fun activities. When HYPE and Improv are not taking place, all students will play, connect, and learn together!
1. Student Track: Master Classes: ACT, SING, DANCE, LIVE.
These four little words sum up CYT. We’ll be focusing on these themes all throughout our time at EXPO with workshops, activities, special guest speakers, interviews, and more! Each year we bring different instructors in to teach on their specialties and to engage with our students. Stay tuned to find out more about who will be teaching this year’s classes!
2. HYPE Track: Leadership Training.
HYPE workshops at EXPO are an exciting time where HYPE members and advisers from all over the country get to meet, collaborate, grow as leaders, and have FUN! You will get the chance to collaborate with other students and advisors and share how your HYPE group thrives! You won’t want to miss out on all that EXPO has to offer for HYPE!
3. IMPROVATHON Track:
Welcome to the 18th Annual CYT Improvathon, a two day celebration of Improv! This year promises to be the best one yet, with more opportunity for teams to interact, show off, and improve their improv skills.
*** SPECTATORS ***
The EXPO Spectator Pass is great for parents, chaperones, or siblings of EXPO Attendees. This pass is required for admittance to any morning or evening events, which includes opening night, Improvathon Finals, closing National Showcase, morning worship, and so on. However, this pass does not include workshops or other activities. Most parent chaperones will want this pass. If you are a chaperone and do not want to attend any EXPO events, you do not need to purchase a pass.
This year, there are two different types of Spectator Passes available. You can either purchase a pass that includes lunches, or you can purchase the pass without lunches. Lunch is provided Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of EXPO.

You will register for your pass to EXPO through the National Website. Other parts of the trip are explained below. Early Bird prices are available between 2/1 and 3/1. Prices are listed Early Bird / Regular

STEP 2: BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOM
You can either book your room directly with the Hotel or you can book your room through CYT. Why would you go wither way? If your family is attending and you're all staying in the same room, you can book your own room directly if you prefer, or use one of the plans below. If your student is attending and will be staying in one of the shared C YT rooms, you should book through CYT. Follow the steps below for one of the 4 options listed here.

*** SHARED ROOM / CYT GROUP RATE ***
Stay in a shared CYT room. All CYT students who are not attending with their own family will be taking this option. Generally 4 person occupancy. 4 nights, tax included. $242.28. To reserve your space, bring $61 deposit to the first EXPO meeting.
*** YOUR OWN ROOM, BOOKED BY CYT / GARDENVIEW VILLA. 2 QUEENS ***
Book by 5/23/2018 to get this rate. 4 nights, tax included. $1104.36. To reserve your space, bring $276 deposit to the first EXPO meeting.

STEP 3: BOOK FLIGHT
Regardless of how you book and pay for the other parts of the EXPO trip, you are responsible for your own travel arrangements. Travel in the means you prefer. For your convenience, we include the following options here.

STEP 4: PAY FOR FOOD, EXPO SHIRT & GROUND TRANSPORTATION
* Ground Transportation --
If you are flying with a CYT group, you will need to bring $20 cash to pay for your portion of the shuttle from the Airport to the Hotel.
* Food --
Registered EXPO participants get lunch as a part of registration. Sunday Night Arrival party is an Add-On that you can pay for when you register with the National EXPO site. Breakfast and Dinner for the event costs $90.00. Bring that payment with you to the EXPO meeting.
* T-Shirt --
Our EXPO Team Shirt, required for all students, and optional for all adults is $15. Bring that payment with you to the EXPO meeting.
